In cooktown
We are in cooktown on an unscheduled stop as Brett blew up a tyre. Luckily it was only just outside cooktown but a new tyre won't get here until tomorrow. We've found a nice spot to camp for the evening.

Wonga beach campsite
Have met up with rishard and ross and we're camped at wonga beach, just north of cairns. We'll be heading north towards cooktown tomorrow and i suspect i will lose phone signal and won't be able to post any updates for awhile. I've got good signal now if i walk out onto the beach. The pajero has been going great and is averaging 10 l/100 km fully loaded, with the roof top box and tent on the roof. Its much easier and more comfortable than the old suzuki for this sort of travelling. I underestimated how humid it is up here, setting up camp caused a bit of sweating.

First day of cape york trip
Got to rockhampton on the first night about 730 km in 8 hours of travelling. Found a cheap cara park but is a bit close to the main road. Also the rocky squre dancing club is right next door, i hope they pass out soon. I should sleep well once i get used to being in a tent again.
Car is ready to go
The car is now packed and read to go. I just need to do a final check of the computers at work and then it is time to hit the road.

Trip to queen mary falls
I took Kristin and Katharina for a drive up behind Boonah. We saw queen mary falls and Daggs falls before returning via the condamine gorge track. This track crosses the condamine river 14 times. Then we stopped in at lake moogarah on the way home. The picture is of daggs falls and i uploaded this via email over the 3g phone network.

Test of email blogging.
This a test to see whether I can post to this blog from my new nokia e71 via my home wifi point. Tomorrow I'll try posting using the 3g network when i go for a drive to the condamine gorge. I have attached a image from the phone to see if that works.

Qld Labour Day Drive 2009
As the weather was nice and it was a public holiday, I decided to take a quick drive up the road to the Mt Cougal Section of Springbrook National Park. Left home about 9'ish after a sleep in and brekky. Drove out along Currumbin Creek and stopped for some photos at Pocock's Bridge.

And then at the Currumbin Rock Pool.

Finally got to the National Park and the car park was pretty empty and it was a pleasant temperature for a short walk.

The car park was full when I got back. Wandered on home for lunch.
